New vocational college to cultivate 'competitive talent'

The China-UK Vocational College of Excellence was founded in Shanghai over the weekend to promote the development of higher vocational education in the city.

The college is a joint program by Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College (SUCC), NPTC Group of Colleges and Studybanks (Beijing) International Data Technology Co.

The three parties will develop education projects focusing on four majors: architecture engineering technology, construction costs, architectural design and computer application technology.

The program is expected to build up internationally accredited academic systems and teaching staff to cultivate competitive talent and improve international education capacity.

It will follow international vocational education standards, such as UK and EU standards and the Sydney Accord, an international agreement between bodies responsible for accrediting academic programs around engineering technology.

A panel of experienced British experts will be established to help assess and improve the projects of the new college. They will also provide professional training and follow-up guidance and carry out annual reviews.

Graduates will receive diplomas from both the Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College and NPTC Group of Colleges, as well as international vocational qualification certificates.
