2021 National Vocational Students’ Competition - Health and Social Care (Higher Vocational College Category) successfully concluded SUCC Students Won the First Prize Once Again!

On 20 June, the 2021 National Vocational Students’ Competition - Health and Social Care (Higher Vocational College Category) came to a successful conclusion in our school. JI Xu from School of Health and Social Care from SUCC, XU Wei from Suzhou Vocational Health College, and ZHAO Xiuxia from Zibo Vocational Institute won the first prize, while the instructors of the three teams, namely XIA Fanlin from our school, YAO Yaqing from the Jiangsu Provincial Team and JI Qing from the Shandong Provincial Team received the "Outstanding Instructor" award.

 

The closing ceremony was attended by MAO Lijuan, Director of the Executive Committee of the Competition and Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, CHU Min, Secretary of CPC Committee of the school, ZHOU Qipei, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Competition, Secretary and Deputy Director of the Education Technology and Equipment Centre of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, XIN Shengli, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Competition, member of the National Steering Committee of Civil Affairs Vocational Education, SU Hong, Head of the Expert Group of the Competition, KANG Hongli, Head of Judges and CHI Baomin, Head of Supervision and Arbitration. The ceremony was chaired by MA Jianchao, Director of the Competition Executive Committee and Director of the Vocational Education Department of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.

 

At the closing ceremony, the head judge KANG Hongli and SU Hong, head of the Expert Group made a comprehensive review of the competition as well as its development. They encouraged the contestants to give full play to their enterprising spirit, pursue excellence, and contribute to building a Healthy China with strong skills. The competition results and rankings were announced by CHI Baomin, Head of the Competition Supervision and Arbitration Team. The distinguished guests presented award certificates to the winners and instructors. MAO Lijuan, Director of the Executive Committee of the Competition and Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, announced the successful closing of the 2021 National Vocational Students’ Competition - Health and Social Care (Higher Vocational College Category).

 

The competition was held over two days and lasted 300 minutes in total. It consisted of four modules, each designed to assess the health and social care skills of individual contestants in the scenarios of hospital, long-term care centre, day care centre and home. Skills to be assessed included written expression, practical operation, and communication.

 

In order to ensure the success of the competition, the school set up a steering group for the preparation and co-ordination work. Division of responsibilities were well defined, including reception, publicity, IT services and campus anti-epidemic preparation. A competition safety team was in place to deliver all services. Extensive promotional campaign also contributed to a sound atmosphere for the competition. During the competition, the school organised team leaders and instructors to watch the live broadcast, and conduct in-depth exchanges on professional development, curriculum and teaching affairs.

 

The event was a competition of practical skills which combined teaching, competition and practical application in the industry, and a test for the development of health and social care programs and courses. It achieved the goal of "promoting teaching, learning, reform and development through the competition", and facilitated the establishment of a high-quality teaching system and improving the quality of talent cultivation. The competition serves as a stage and platform to showcase students’ skills in higher vocational colleges, promote learning and exchange, and present teaching achievements. It will further motivate young students to develop their skills to serve the country.
