On November 9th, the President Ye Yinzhong, the Vice Secretary of Shanghai Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League (CCYL) Wu Bin, the Vice President Gan Aipin, and Director of General Office Zhang Zhemin visited the volunteer team “Cheng Xin” from SUCC, in the company of the Secretary of CCYL of SUCC Wang He and the Vice Secretary of CCYL of SUCC Zuo Yun.
During the first China International Import Expo (CIIC), “Cheng Xin” volunteers worked in 29 service stations for 7 kinds of positions, including news volunteers for Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipality, medical volunteers for Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, voucher volunteers for the Security Center, consultation volunteers in the central walkway, the registration hall, and the external field respectively, and volunteers for visitor dispersion.
There was a large passenger flow in the central walkway. While “Cheng Xin” volunteers were changing shifts for a rest, President Ye and other officers, in the company of Wu Bin, had an amicable conversation with volunteers on their working hours and intensity, the integrated support of SUCC, and their studies progress. Meanwhile, President Ye hoped that students could seize the opportunity as volunteers for CIIC, broaden their views, combine their experiences with majors, and improve themselves while helping others.
The consultancy station outside the press center is necessary for Chinese and foreign journalists. On the first day, lots of journalists gathered at the station as they were not familiar with the Center and surrounding areas. “Cheng Xin” volunteers faced with challenges from both the large passenger flow and language barrier. After the most efficient mental accommodation and information upgrading in a short time, they can deal with questions from visitors both at home and abroad properly and they prepared required signs by themselves. The South Square, as the main path for foreign guests, is the most featured entrance of the Center, characterized by “CIIC” elements. “Cheng Xin” volunteers were just at the first consultancy station in the registration hall at the South Square.
President Ye issued commemorative badges exclusively authorized by CIIC to volunteers. What worth mentioning is that when President Ye knew a volunteer of the east registration hall was from another university of Yangzi River Delta, he also gave the student a commemorative badge and mentioned that this was an embodiment of intercollegiate friendship and also an actual practice of integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta.
Then, President Ye and other officers visited the Volunteer House and had a meal together with the volunteers. The volunteers introduced the “bandage culture” and demonstrated their designs. They were proud that the original “Seven-color bandage” published by SUCC for CIIC was popular among other volunteer teams. After lunch, President Ye and other officers took a photo with all the students and highly praised the “Cheng Xin” volunteers. Before they left, President Ye ordered the SUCC committee of CCYL to further cooperate with related departments, and provide integrated support to and lead volunteers, so that the volunteer work in CIIC could be completed successfully.
