SUCC Awarded the Outstanding Contribution Unit of the Housing and Construction Industry by the 1st National Skills Competition

On 21 May, the delegation of the housing and construction industry for the 1st National Skills Competition, hosted by the Department of Personnel of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and organized by the China Construction Education Association, met in Changsha of Hunan Province for a concluding meeting. The Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College (SUCC) was invited to attend the meeting to receive the honours of Outstanding Contestant, Outstanding Instructor and Outstanding Contribution Unit.

The meeting promoted the trend of the times that advocated "hard work, valuable skills and great creativity" and the spirit of craftsmanship of excellence, and commended participants and  faculty members with outstanding performance in the 1st National Skills Competition. Attendees included JIANG Xiaoqun, Director of the Department of Personnel of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, LU Ming, Second-level Inspector, SHU Xinggang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and LIU Jie, President of the China Construction Education Association.

The SUCC successfully hosted the first round of the flower arrangement competition for the 1st National Skills Competition in August 2020. YAN Yingji, a SUCC student, secured the first place and made it to the final round in Guangzhou that December, winning silver medal as the competition concluded. In October 2020, the SUCC was recognised as a training base for the floral art competition. XU Dongmei, instructor of the base, trained contestants in many areas including floral techniques, conception and physical fitness.
