Opening Ceremonies for the 8th College Student Sports Meet are Held in SUCC

     Under the perfect sunshine, the flame of youth awaits to be lit! On the morning of November 20, the 8th College Student Sports Meet officially launched under the theme "Energizing Youth, Strengthening Body and Mind", with vibrant opening ceremonies held simultaneously at the sports grounds of the Fengxian and Yangpu campuses. SUCC Party and administrative leaders, heads of various functional departments and secondary colleges, as well as representatives of faculty and students attended the ceremony. The ceremonies were hosted by Wang He, Director of the Student Affairs Department, at the Fengxian campus, and Hu Yue, Deputy Director, at the Yangpu campus.


    Five formations from secondary colleges at the Fengxian campus and three at the Yangpu campus marched with high spirits and vigorous strides, vividly demonstrating the vibrant and determined spirit of SUCC’s teachers and students.


    As the majestic national anthem, March of the Volunteers, resounded across the fields, the bright five-star red flag was raised solemnly over the sports grounds of both campuses. All teachers and students stood in respectful silence, hearts stirred with a shared sense of pride and patriotism.

    Athlete representative Xie Xinfei at Fengxian campus and Shi Jie at Yangpu campus pledged to compete with integrity, respect, and determination, striving to achieve their personal best while embodying true sportsmanship. Referee representatives Cao Jing and Sun Xiaolong committed to strictly adhere to competition rules and referee discipline, enforce judgments courteously and seriously, and upholding the fairness, impartiality, and transparency of the competitions with good ethical standards and professional competence.

    Chu Min, Secretary of Party Committee, and Guo Hongtao, Vice President, delivered their speeches at the Fengxian and Yangpu campuses respectively. On behalf of the SUCC, they expressed their gratitude to all contributors who worked hard for the sports meet and extended a warm welcome to all athletes, referees, and staff. They highlighted the sports meet as a key platform to showcase community spirit, advance sports culture, and strengthen collective morale. Moreover, it is a vivid reflection of the SUCC's commitment to its core mission of "Fostering Virtue through Education" and advancing the "Holistic Development of Five Key Domains". They also underscored the significant alignment of sports with national development and celebrated the achievements of the SUCC's sports programs, specifically mentioning the recent news that the "Cheng Yao Dragon Dance Team", representing Shanghai, won the bronze medal in the dragon and lion dance event at the mass performances of the 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China. Finally, they put forward three aspirations for all teachers and students: 1. Promote the sports spirit and challenge our limits. Channel our tenacity and skill into fair competition, showcasing the spirit of SUCC and true sportsmanship at its finest. 2. Strengthen teamwork consciousness and strive together with determination. Deepen bonds through competition and strengthen unity through teamwork, so as to build a culture of harmony, civility, and shared endeavor. 3. Prioritize health and make fitness part of daily life. With the energy from a healthy lifestyle and the vitality from daily exercise, dedicate SUCC's wisdom and strength to our college's growth and our nation's development.

     The SUCC cheerleading team energized the crowd with a radiant performance titled "Rushing Forward", blending power and grace into a symbol of shared optimism and expressing the firm belief and uplifting posture of all teachers and students rushing toward a better future. The "Cheng·Yao" Dragon and Lion Dance Team delivered a magnificent and powerfully graceful dragon and lion dance performance, conveying profound traditional cultural heritage and an uplifting spirit of striving.


    After the opening ceremonies, various games commenced in full swing. Nearly 1,000 student-athletes are set to compete across a range of sporting events.
