On the morning of October 28, the opening ceremony of the Fifth University Sports Meeting was held in the playgrounds of Fengxian campus and Yangpu campus. Chu Min, secretary of the Party Committee of the university, Ye Yinzhong, president of the university and other school leaders, as well as the Party and government leaders of functional departments and secondary colleges, staff, and student representatives attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Lei, the head of Student Affairs Department, and Xu Jinxian, the director of Basic Teaching Department, respectively in Fengxian campus and Yangpu campus.

Before the opening ceremony, national flag team, school flag team, and slogan team made their debut, 5 secondary college teams of Fengxian campus, 3 secondary college teams of Yangpu campus, vocational education team, mass organization team, and “Heart of the City” volunteer team marched past the rostrum in orderly steps, which have shown the full spirit and high morale of teachers and students.

After the march-in ceremony, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held.

Athlete representative Ma Zhuoyan and referee representative Bi Jingkun of Fengxian Campus, athlete representative Han Chun of Yangpu Campus and referee representative Sun Xiaolong took the oath respectively to participate in the sports meeting with a positive, full and enthusiastic attitude, follow the rules, respect the referees, respect the opponents, carry forward the Olympic spirit, carry forward the style, and play with the good level; practice the sports ethics, perform the referee responsibilities, enforce laws impartially, and complete the work of referee successfully with the attitude of being serious and conscientious.

He Guang, Deputy Secretary of CPC and vice president, and Guo Hongtao, member of the party committee and vice president, made speeches respectively.

As COVID-19 is raging around the world, it lets the people further understand the important value of health, and sports is the most active and effective way to improve the physical health of the youth. “The Tokyo Olympic Games and the 14th National Games have aroused people's enthusiasm to help the national economic development by strong physique, I hope that the students log off the internet, going off the dormitory, moving towards the playground, facing study and life with the spirit of "Faster, Higher, Stronger - Together", and contributing to the realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

Party secretary Chu Min, president Ye Yinzhong declared the official opening of the sports meeting in Fengxian and Yangpu campus respectively. At the opening ceremony, the wonderful dragon dances of the "Chengyao" dragon-Lion dance team were the prelude of the group performance. “Cheerleading” players danced on the athletic field with cheerful music and colorful balls in hand, showing the youth and vitality of students; “Long live the motherland” from the College of Public Administration and Services expressed a deep affection for motherland and the determination to contribute youth and strength to the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
