SUCC Holds Safety Orientation for New International Students

    On the afternoon of April 1, SUCC held a safety orientation for the international students in Grade 2024 at the Fengxian Campus. The officers from the Fengxian Subbureau of Exit-Entry Administration of Shanghai Public Security Bureau and Zhuanghang Police Station were invited to give lectures on safety for international students studying in China. SUCC leaders attended the event, including Guo Hongtao, Vice President, Yu Limin, Director of International Cooperation Division, Ying Yayong, Party Secretary of the School of Food & Tourism, Huang Yuanyuan, Deputy Director (Acting) of the Department of General Studies, and Cui Nana, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Business Administration. Twenty-two degree and non-degree international students currently studying on campus, as well as relevant counselors, also participated in the event. The event was hosted by Yu Limin.


    The event commenced with SUCC's international promotional video, which vividly showcased the unique charm and vibrant academic environment in SUCC, filling all students with anticipation for their upcoming study journey in China.

In the safety education session, Officer Dong from the Fengxian Subbureau of Exit-Entry Administration of Shanghai Public Security Bureau demonstrated on-site how to carry out self-service registration for accommodation of overseas personnel and explained exit-entry laws and regulations in a simple and profound way. He specially reminded students to promptly handle matters such as residence permits and visa renewals, and strictly prohibit illegal acts such as illegal residence and illegal employment. Officer Zhu from Zhuanghang Police Station of the Fengxian Subbureau conducted an anti-fraud awareness session for international students, providing detailed explanations of common scam types encountered in daily life. Through real-world case studies, he demonstrated effective methods to identify and prevent fraudulent activities. The officers expressed their hope that international students would abide by Chinese laws while also safeguarding their legitimate rights through legal channels in China. They encouraged students to seek assistance from teachers or the police when encountering difficulties, and extended their wishes for the students to achieve academic success and enjoy a smooth life experience in China.


Currently, there are 1 international student in Grade 2023, 17 international students in Grade 2024, and 4 short-term language students studying at SUCC. This safety orientation has equipped international students with essential safety knowledge for living and studying in China, while also providing institutional guidance for optimizing SUCC's international student management framework.
