On November 19, the inauguration of Jingshi Academy, the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” overseas promotion base of SUCC was held through the remote video connection of Shanghai-Beijing-Vientiane. Du Kewei, Director of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education of PRC, Saykham Phanthavong, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Guo Hongtao, Vice Principal of SUCC, Benpeng-Sochang Maon, Principal of Barbassa Institute of Technology, Zhang Yu, President of Beijing Huatec Information Technology Co., Ltd., attended the inauguration and delivered speeches in video or online form. The heads of the International Exchange Office, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Department of Student Affairs, School of Artificial Intelligence Application, and the director of Computer Application Technology attended the meeting.
In the video message, Du Kewei highly affirmed the unremitting efforts made by the two schools of China and Laos and Huatec to overcome the adverse impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and to the construction of the project. He pointed out that the Jingshi Project and Jingshi Academy are brand projects for people-to-people exchanges between China and Laos created with the concerted efforts of all parties. These projects will not only cultivate a large number of technical and skilled talents with good humanistic quality and capability of people-to-people and cultural exchanges, but it will also make new and greater contributions to the economic and social development of the two countries, as well as people-to-people bonds and people-to-people friendship.
Saykham Phanthavong said in his speech that the completion of the "Chinese + Vocational Skills" promotion base will be conducive to the improvement of the development level of vocational education in Laos, and can better promote the exchange and cooperation between China and Laos in the cultivation of technical skilled talents, promote the integration of production and education, and provide intellectual and human support for the development of the industry.
Benpeng-Sochang Maon introduced the operation of Barbassa Institute of Technology. He said Barbasa is the largest vocational college in Laos, and he is very happy that the project has implemented in their school. He hopes that the cooperation with SUCC can bring inspiration and vitality to the professional construction and talent training of the school, which can help young students have better career development.
Guo Hongtao briefed domestic and foreign guests on the work and achievements of SUCC in international exchanges and cooperation, serving the construction of “the Belt and Road”, and carrying out “Chinese + Vocational Skills” in recent years; expressed gratitude to the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education and Huatec for their guidance and cooperation; hoped that the SUCC and Barbassa Institute of Technology will start from the "Chinese + Computer Application Technology" project and jointly carry out cooperation in talent cultivating, teacher-student exchanges and skills competitions, and create and share achievements of cooperation together, so that the young students in Laos can better understand Chinese technology and culture and improve their learning effectiveness.
As early as 2019, SUCC was selected as one of the first batch of Jingshi International Academy by t the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education. The project was jointly implemented by the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Huatec, and is constructed by the professional group of artificial intelligence of SUCC. After two years of preparations, the construction of related professional teaching curriculum systems and resources, the formation of international teaching teams, and the training bases have all reached a level that can meet the needs of overseas and online personnel training and skills training. The project officially implemented in Barbasa Institute of Technology in Laos. Barbasa Institute of Technology has also become the "Chinese + Vocational Skills" promotion base of SUCC in Laos. Relying on the advantages of SUCC's computer application program, the base will carry out professional co-construction, technical skills training, Chinese education, and people-to-people exchanges in Laos, share Chinese vocational education standards and Chinese technical standards with vocational colleges in Laos, and promote the quality of vocational education personnel training in Laos, promote the career development of young students in Laos, and provide human resources support for Chinese-funded enterprises in Laos to hire local talents who agree with the Chinese management culture.
