On the afternoon of March 8th, the Celebration for the 2019 Women’s Day themed with “Progress Bravely in the New Era and Build Dreams in the New Field” and the establishment of the Sodality of Female Professors and Cadres (SFPC) was held in the Multi-function Hall of the Information Center at the Fengxian Campus. A total of more than 150 people, including Chu Min (SUCC Party Secretary), Gan Aipin and Yang Xiufang (the Vice Presidents of SUCC), all the female professors, cadres and teachers of SUCC and student representatives, attended the Celebration.

At the meeting for the establishment of the SFPC, the Articles of Association for the SUCC Sodality of Female Professors and Cadres and the list of the recommended candidates for organization were reviewed and approved, and Associate Professor Shang Huiping (the head of the SUCC Party Propaganda Department) was elected as the first chairwoman of the SUCC SFPC. Chairwoman Shang Huiping delivered a warm and enthusiastic speech, expressing that she would not forget the original intention of serving all the fellows, and would strive to build the SFPC into a social platform, a growing field and a warm home for female professors and cadres.

At the Celebration for the International Women’s Day, Gan Aipin delivered a speech, hoping that the SFPC would learn from the experience of the brother universities under the leadership of the Party Committee, explore the characteristics of SUCC, and handle concrete affairs in a down-to-earth manner for the development of SUCC’s various undertakings. He pointed out that the SUCC Labor Union should work hard to achieve the goal of “four-dimensional works” (in-depth, high-level, warm and right-minded works), strengthen the construction of all aspects, and make the Labor Union work be done in detail to present a new look in the new academic year.

The Celebration commended the individuals and collectives who won the 2017-2018 Woman Pace-Setter (Collective) at the municipal education system and SUCC levels. The four award-winning advanced representatives, Yuan Yuan, Zhao Huiqun, Ma Hua and Bian Jie, delivered exchange speeches.

At the Celebration, Chu Min and Gan Aipin unveiled the nameplate for the SFPC. The female professors and cadre representatives were partnered with female undergraduate representatives.

Chu Min expressed that the establishment of the SFPC was a happy event for female teachers and staff as well as a major event for SUCC, since it marked a new step for women’s work in SUCC. He put forward three requirements for the SFPC. First, strengthen the construction of the SFPC, give play to the advantages and leading role of senior female faculty, intensify communication, do NOT forget the initial intentional, look downward, and take the initiative to care for the growth and development of female teachers and students; Second, play the role of “half the sky”. The female faculty and staff in SUCC account for the majority of the total faculty members. It is hoped that everyone will unite and consciously integrate their personal dreams into the grand blueprint for SUCC development. Third, the Party organizations at all levels must attach great importance to and support the work of the Labor Union and the Women Workers’ Committee. In terms of talent development, we will continue to strengthen the selection and training of Trade Union cadres; besides, we will highly support the activities for the masses’ work with sufficient time and material resources. Finally, he called on the female teachers to gather their wisdom and strength into SUCC’s goal of constructing a high-level institution with Chinese characteristics and to write a new era with female excellence.
