On behalf of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College, President Ye Yinzhong welcomed all freshmen to join the big family, and explained the four "unusual" meanings behind these simple words of welcome as follows: First, these words convey unusual concern and greeting. The college has always given priority to the faculty’s and students’ health, as well as the campus safety. Students may rest fully assured that the college will take strict protection measures against the COVID-19 pandemic and are also required to take proper protection measures with due care; Second, these words convey unusual joyfulness. In the wake of the great pandemic challenges, students grow more mature. After the pandemic, their youth will be even more promising; Third, these words convey the extraordinary responsibility and mission. The college is drawing a new development blueprint for the "14th Five-Year Plan" at a new starting point, expecting students to become a new force in the new round of reform and development of the college; Last but not the least, these words convey unusual responsibility of the era. Today when the world is facing great changes unseen in a century, realizing the “dream of strong nation” necessitates talent and innovation more eagerly than ever before, and calls for responsibility and hard work more desperately than ever before. He said that the unique imprint, the expectation of the college, and the call of the era were all "unusual” and would become the prominent backdrop of students' college life. It’s his sincere hope that all students will lead a wonderful life in their beloved college from now on and make great achievements with hard work.
