The School of Public Management & Service Held the First Hotel Vocational Ability Contest

On October 21st, with the purpose of improving communication and promoting discipline construction, learning and teaching through contest, the School of Public Management & Service held the First Hotel Vocational Ability Contest in the Hotel Management Major with Joint Secondary and Higher Vocational Education in the Hotel Management Simulation Training Room of the Fengxian Campus. More than 50 people from Shanghai Engineering and Technology Management School and Shanghai Modern Vocational School, including competitors, team leaders, advisers and school leaders, attended the contest. 

The contest included two parts—Table Dressing for Chinese Cuisines and Cocktail Making.  According to the 4-level skill identification standards for hotel provided in the National Professional Skills Identification Standard, the table dressing for Chinese cuisine includes three parts—the table dressing for a Chinese cuisine banquet (10 people per table), napkin folding (10 napkins) and English conversation related to hotel service, while the cocktail making part includes cocktails preparing and presenting.

In the contest, we invited the leading figures in the industry and colleges to comment and guide competitors on the spot. The contest has played a positive role in further strengthening the multi-skill applied talents training in Hotel Management, improving the integrated talent training in the Hotel Management Major with Joint Secondary and Higher Vocational Education and promoting the diversity of joint teaching exchange activities among teachers in secondary and higher vocational institutions.
