On the morning of October 28, the opening ceremony of the fourth college games themed by “Fighting the Epidemic with Concerted Effort and Strengthening Physical Fitness” was held ceremoniously on the athletic fields of Yangpu and Fengxian campuses, respectively. Party Secretary Chu Min, President Ye Yinzhong, among other leaders of SUCC, as well as national model worker representatives were invited to attend the ceremony. Party heads of all functional departments and secondary schools, the faculty, and all currently enrolled students attended this opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Guo Hongtao and Gan Aipin on Yangpu and Fengxian campuses, respectively.
Following the solemn flag-raising ceremony, Chu Min and Ye Yinzhong expressed congratulations to the opening of the college games on behalf of school leaders in their speeches. Chu Min said the college games were a traditional part of its campus sports culture, which have strongly promoted comprehensive quality-oriented education and extensive mass fitness program in SUCC, boosted the construction of spiritual civilization on campus, and enhanced campus cultural taste.
Ye Yinzhong’s messages to the faculty and students: We should use the good opportunity of holding this sports meeting to further encourage physical exercises so as to lay a good physical foundation for better work, study and life. We expect the faculty and students of SUCC to learn from each other, have more exchanges, and develop friendship, to make this event an intense, orderly, efficient and solidary pageant, and to make greater contribution to creating new characteristics of SUCC.
The exhibition and performance of the opening ceremony ended up with the school song “Realizing Dreams with SUCC”.
The fourth college games made a wonderful stage where the faculty and students of SUCC displayed their resolution to fight the epidemic with concerted effort, and their positive, healthy, and enterprising mien. The sports meeting attracted 1,500 student athletes and over 300 faculty athletes from 8 secondary schools, and played a vital role in creating a positive, solidary atmosphere of campus sports.
