Recently, the winners of the 2022 Belt and Road International Student Competition on Digital Architectural Design were announced. Students of School of Architecture and Environmental Arts in SUCC won the honorable mention of digital architectural design with the work named Market-Railway Station Planning and Design. In addition, SUCC was the only higher vocational college.

After knowing the competition in March this year, with an active organization of the International Exchange Office, School of Architecture and Environmental Arts responded quickly and formed a team of teachers and students to prepare for it shortly. In face of adverse conditions brought by the epidemic, the participating teachers and students still devoted themselves to the creation. They connected the “digital” thinking, “Belt and Road” railway with urban historical context along the way. Considering the comprehensive quality and sustainable development, with the help of computer aided, virtual reality, digital twin, geographic information system and other new technologies, they carried out digital architectural design with the theme of railway, facilities construction and management, urban renewal, as well as architectural heritage protection. This work fully demonstrated the innovation ability and comprehensive quality of SUCC’s students, thus enhancing the ability of teachers and students to participate in the "Belt and Road" exchange and cooperation.

This competition was initiated by the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium and hosted by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture with the theme of “Railway: A New Bond Along the Silk Road”. Three topics were set up including digital architectural design, digital structural design, and scene modeling and visualization. With the support of UNESCO, "International Secretariat of G-Global" Association, International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and other institutions, the competition attracted over 650 teachers and students from 45 universities in 11 countries with more than 100 works. The number of teams and works reach a new high. Therefore, the organizer invited 24 experts from 11 countries to build a three-direction evaluation group, which strictly reviewed the works in accordance with thematic expression, completeness, aesthetics, fineness and creativity.
