On January 6, 16 teachers and students from Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States visited Fengxian Campus of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College (SUCC). The International Cooperation Division, the School of Architecture & Environment Art, and the Department of General Studies of the SUCC cooperated with each other to carefully organize academic visits and achieved a complete success.

Teachers and students from the United States visited the campus under the guidance of Wang Aihua, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Division, and exchanged views on the different characteristics of campus culture and differences in university education systems between Chinese and American universities. At the School of Architecture & Environment Art, teachers and students from the United States are interested in ancient building models in the hall of the School and student rubbings displayed in the corridor of the Wenbo Building. Later, Li Wenmo, a teacher of the School, told the story of traditional Chinese woodblock New Year pictures to teachers and students and taught them how to make woodblock New Year pictures with the meaning of "peace all year round" and "abundance", allowing them to experience Chinese people's love for traditional festivals and arts. Zhou Subei, a teacher of the School, communicated with teachers and students who are TCM enthusiasts from the United States and shared TCM physical therapy experience, which was highly praised by foreign friends. In the Liren Ball Games Hall, teachers and students from the United States were amazed by the wonderful dragon dance performance. Under the patient demonstration and guidance of teachers Yu Yu and Li Zexuan from the Department of General Studies, they started with the basic movements of holding the pole, gradually learned to prance and walk around, and fully experienced the charm of traditional Chinese sports skills.

The teacher-student exchange between China and the United States has bridged language and cultural differences, bringing young people from both countries closer together. Leading teacher Laura Domalik said that she was deeply impressed by the prosperity of China's modern metropolises during her trip to Shanghai and the Chinese people's inheritance and protection of traditional culture at the SUCC. Other teachers and students were reluctant to leave. They hoped that they would have more opportunities to study in China, and welcomed Chinese teachers and students to visit the United States for academic visits.

Recently, President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan presented a New Year greeting card to the representatives of teachers and students from high schools in Washington State in the United States. They hoped that Chinese and American teenagers will continue to actively participate in the initiative of "inviting 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years", strengthen exchanges and interactions, enhance mutual understanding, inherit traditional friendship, and contribute to promoting the development of China-US relations and world peace. In the future, the SUCC will further actively implement the plan and build an exchange and learning platform for young people of the two countries to get to know each other, so as to open an important window for teenagers in the United States to perceive and understand China and make contributions to promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges and people-to-people bonds between China and the United States.
