On March 23rd, the “Tour Guide Service” Competition of the 8th Vocational Schools Skills Competition of Shanghai “Starlight Contest” was successfully held in SUCC. This Competition provided a platform for Shanghai higher vocational students to improve their comprehensive quality and show their elegant performances as tour guides, and laid a good foundation for promoting the exploration and practice of teaching reform and innovative teaching modes and cultivating outstanding talents in line with social development.

The leaders of the Higher Education Department of the Municipal Education Commission visited the event scene and encouraged the players. The contestants and the instructors were highly inspired. There were 48 contestants from 12 colleges and universities in this Competition. There were five modules—the tour guide knowledge test, the live guide word creation and explanation, the introduction of a self-selected scenic spot, the tour guide oral English test and the talent show. The contestants were featured by solid basic skill of tour guide, good stage performance, fluent English statements and rich cultural knowledge, and deeply impressed all the leaders, teachers and students at the spot.

The Competition completely benchmarked national competition standards. Based on the careful design of the modules, the Competition was successfully completed and ended under the strong support of the SUCC leaders and the full cooperation of the various departments, and received unanimous praise and approval from the participating institutions. Besides, the SUCC contestants also achieved excellent results in the Competition, and will represent SUCC to participate in the National Competition.
