SUCC Invited to Attend the 6th Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Conference (GEIC)

On August 22nd and 23rd, the 6th Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Conference (GEIC) was held in Beijing under the theme “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Mode in the New Era of Globalization: China and the World”. The conference was jointly hosted by the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology and Jilin University. More than 300 government officials, experts, scholars and business representatives from China, Canada, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands and the UK attended the conference. SUCC’s vice President Gan Aipin and acting President of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Song Bohong were invited to attend the conference.


The Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Conference (GEIC) was founded in 2013. It was jointly established and launched by experts and scholars from China, Israel, the Netherlands, the UK and other countries, and has been held for six consecutive years. As an important annual conference with extensive international influence in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, GEIC was held in Beijing for the first time. The conference focused on issues such as innovation-driven development, innovative and entrepreneurial trends and modes in the new era of globalization, the past and future of technological innovation and entrepreneurship, and the historical experience and prospects of technological innovation in the past seventy years of People’s Republic of China. It aimed at promoting the development of global innovation and entrepreneurship economy, and facilitating interdisciplinary and cross-border innovation as well as entrepreneurship research, education and practice.


On the day of the opening ceremony, Fang Li, secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, Yang Zhenbin, secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University, and Tsvi Vinig, the founding foreign chairman of the conference and professor at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, delivered speeches.


At the conference, Liu Yanhua, counselor of the State Council and former vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Liu Hui, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Dan Blumberg, vice president of Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Sun Hongbin, deputy director of the innovation and entrepreneurship committee of the Ministry of Education, Li Zheng, director of the China State-owned Economic Research Center of Jilin University, Zhang Shiyun, deputy director of the Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Think Tank, and Ali Niknam, founder and CEO of the Dutch BUNQ company, and other experts and scholars gave wonderful speeches. As the only representative of vocational colleges in China, Song Bohong, SUCC’s acting President of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, conducted the discussion and sharing on the theme of "Innovation of Enterprise Organization Management and Improvement of Economic Operation Quality", so as to promote the development of innovation and entrepreneurship in colleges through organization and management innovation.


Innovation and entrepreneurship are the general trends of globalization and the strategy of China to achieve high-quality development. Under the background of national in-depth implementation of innovation-driven development strategy and remarkable achievements in high-quality development, SUCC has been actively engaged in practices and exchanges in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship education. At the conference, advanced experience in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship domestically and abroad were discussed, while new trends and modes of theory and practice in innovation and entrepreneurship were mutually learned. SUCC aims to accelerate the optimization of innovation and entrepreneurship education modes and systems, and enhance the college’s integration in development of innovation, entrepreneurship and professional education, so as to play a leading role in the national vocational colleges innovation and entrepreneurship practices.
