On the morning of October 21, led by Ms. Aun, a total of 10 students majored in Food from Saowabha Vocational College (Thailand) were officially admitted to SUCC. This is the first Thai students introduced by SUCC after the SUCC branch was set up in Bangkok in June this year. They are not only the first international students of SUCC, but also the first overseas students to receive academic education in a Shanghai higher vocational college. They have been admitted to the Food Quality & Safety Program of the School of Health & Social Care.
On the morning of October 23, the Entrance Ceremony for the international students was held in the multi-function hall of the Information Building in the Fengxian Campus. Leaders from the Public Security Bureau of Shanghai City, the International Cooperation Division of SUCC and the School of Health & Social Care of SUCC, and representatives of professional teachers and students participated in the event. During the Ceremony, the leaders of the International Cooperation Division and the School of Health & Social Care wore the emblems of the Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College for the foreign students, and presented school supplies. The International Cooperation Division specially invited the Officer Li Li, a police officer of the Exit-Entry Administration of the Public Security Bureau of Shanghai City, to present the first lecture on safety education, which involved detailed explanations on the types of visas for international students, relevant laws and regulations (about residence, employment, accommodation registration and other related aspects), traffic safety, property security and campus fraud and other security and preventive measures. Mr. Qu Chunbo, the head of the Food Quality & Safety Program, gave a detailed introduction of the professional profile and the faculty, closing the gap between the Thai students and the School.
The admission of the Thai students to SUCC means that the cooperation between SUCC and Saowabha Vocational College has progressed from the establishment of an overseas branch of SUCC to the cooperation in the joint cultivation of talents. On the basis of receiving substantial Chinese language and traditional Chinese culture teaching, these students will become high-quality application talents with the basic skills of analysis, detection, safety assessment, quality control, technical management, corporate management and scientific research by learning and mastering the basic knowledge and skills of food quality and safety.
