On March 6th, the Opening Ceremony of for SUCC China-UK Vocational College of Excellence was successfully held in the Student Activity Center at the Yangpu Campus. A total of more than 500 people, including Guo Hongtao (the Vice President of SUCC and the President of China-UK Vocational College of Excellence), Steve Rhodes (the Vice President of Neath Port Talbot College, the UK), Darren Horne (the Executive Director of the Center of Excellence for British Vocational Education in China), Liu Ying (the Director of the Academic Affairs Office) and the members of the School Committee of the China-UK Vocational College of Excellence as well as teachers and Grade-2018 students from the School of Architecture and Environmental Arts, the School of Electromechanical Engineering and Information, the School of Construction Economics and Management and the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, attended the ceremony and witnessed the official opening of the China-UK Vocational College of Excellence. The Ceremony was hosted by Yu Limin (the Director of the International Cooperation Division).

The China-UK Vocational College of Excellence is a cooperation project between SUCC and the UK’s largest vocational school, Neath Port Talbot College (NPTC). Relaying on the advantages of the two parties in construction engineering technology, engineering cost, architectural design, computer and other disciplines, the two parties would exchange and cooperate with each other, actively promote the integration of professional teaching and international standards, and strive to build an international team of teachers and to train a group of high-quality and skilled talents with international competitiveness. 

At the Ceremony, Guo Hongtao raised ardent hopes for the first batch of teachers and students of the College of Excellence. She emphasized that SUCC had based on its positioning and promoted its international education in an all-round, multi-channel and deep-level manner, aiming to benefit the teachers and students with the international cooperation. She encouraged the teachers and students of the College of Excellence to cherish the learning opportunities, to make full use of the high-quality teaching resources, and to strive to improve themselves. Steve Rhodes delivered a speech, and enthusiastically expressed his congratulations and expectations for the teachers and students of the College of Excellence. He said that the NPTC would spare no effort to serve the teachers and students of the College of Excellence and favorably receive students to exchange and study in the UK. Mr. Zhou Peiyuan (a teacher from the School of Architecture and Environmental Art) and Li Zhongliu (a Grade-2018 student majored in Engineering Cost) also presented passionate speeches at the Ceremony as a teacher representative and student representative of the College of Excellence respectively.

At the Opening Ceremony, the principal of the Center of Excellence for British Vocational Education in China gave a detailed interpretation on the Scholarship and Grants Selection and Application Flow of the College of Excellence.
