From December 21st to 22nd, the Forum on the Belt and Road Education International Exchange and the ceremony for the establishment of the Belt and Road Education International Exchange of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) was held at Fudan University. President Ye Yinzhong of SUCC was invited to attend the Forum and deliver a keynote speech. At the ceremony for the establishment of the branch, President Ye Yinzhong was elected as the first vice chairman, and SUCC became the first governing unit.

The Forum on the Belt and Road Education International Exchange was hosted by Fudan University and undertaken by Fudan Institute of Belt and Road & Global Governance. For the first time, the Forum brought together representatives of higher education, basic education and vocational education institutions that have been highly effective in Belt and Road education practice across the country (incl. leaders from Fudan University and Yunnan University). They shared their achievements in education promotion practices and experience in international exchange and cooperation. President Ye Yinzhong delivered a keynote speech at the Forum, sharing SUCC's exploration, practice and successful experience in serving the Belt and Road initiative, pioneering international cooperation in vocational education, and key work layout in the future.

The Belt and Road Education International Exchange Branch established on the 22nd is affiliated to CEAIE, and is composed of more than 50 institutions at all levels (including higher education, vocational education, and basic education), which are committed to the international education exchange under the Belt and Road initiative. The institutions span a wide area, and cover wide levels. The Branch aims to promote the vigorous development of international exchanges in the field of education, better play the important role of education in connecting people’s hearts, promote the “going out” of China's education, and further enhance the international influence and leadership of China's education. 

After the election, Mr. Chen Zhimin (Vice President of Fudan University) was elected as the first chairman of the Belt and Road Education International Exchange Branch. Mr. Ye Yinzhong and other five leaders were elected as the vice chairmen.

Jiao Yang (a vice chairman of CEAIE, and secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University) pointed out in her speech that the establishment of the Branch is for schools and educational institutions at all levels to facilitate people-to-people bond and education cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative. The Brach is required to actively integrate into the overall situation of China’s opening up and further implement the Belt and Road education action plan. In his speech, Zhao Lingshan (a vice president and secretary-general of CEAIE) emphasized that Belt and Road education cooperation is a top-level design of China’s international education cooperation and exchange, a roadmap for China’s education to gradually become a world education center, and a key to promote international exchanges and cooperation at various levels and on a larger scale.

In the next stage, SUCC will closely integrate its own advantages, with the practical experience accumulated in recent years, actively play the role of the governing unit of the Branch, seize and seek new opportunities in the field of Belt and Road construction for vocational education for significant leaps, and contribute SUCC wisdom and solutions to the Belt and Road education international cooperation.
