On the morning of September 28, Dr. Jens‑Uwe Strehle, Managing Director of Bau Bildung e. V., Ms. Leng Xiao, Representative for China of Bau Bildung e. V., and their entourage visited the Yangpu Campus of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College (SUCC). Zhang Zhengrong, President of SUCC, Guo Hongtao, Vice President of SUCC, Yu Limin, Director of the International Cooperation Division, Liu Yalong, Dean of the School of Digital Construction, Bao Yan, Dean of the School of City Operation & Management, Li Tao, Dean of the School of Municipal & Ecological Engineering, together with relevant staff, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Zhang Zhengrong pointed out that SUCC has a long‑standing cooperative relationship with the German side. The friendship between the two sides has spanned more than ten years, bringing about sound cooperative ties. Following the meeting held by both parties in March this year, various undertakings of the college have advanced steadily and achieved phased outcomes. He gave a key briefing on the progress of priority work led by SUCC, including setting up the National Industry‑Education Integration Community for Urban Renewal and taking part in the WorldSkills Competition. Dr. Strehle thanked the college for the warm reception and spoke highly of the college’s practical achievements in vocational education.
Both sides conducted in‑depth deliberations on pragmatic cooperation within the construction sector and formulated preliminary cooperation proposals. Plans are in place to push forward the delivery of cooperative projects through initiatives such as summer study camps in Germany for students, mutual exchanges of teachers and experts, and the joint development of teaching materials. Germany’s energy‑saving and environmental‑protection industry ranks among the world’s best. It boasts particularly profound expertise in building energy efficiency, which is highly consistent with China’s development drive for intelligent and green buildings.
Bau Bildung e. V. was established via the merger of the Saxon Association for Architectural Education and the Saxony‑Anhalt Association for Architectural Education. The merger has further broadened its specialty coverage and enriched its resources from industry enterprises. Leveraging the platform of the National Industry‑Education Integration Community for Urban Renewal initiated by SUCC, member institutions of the Community will be invited to join cooperative projects in the days ahead. This will continuously expand the scope of China‑Germany vocational education cooperation and amplify its outreach impact.
Dr. Strehle and his entourage toured the college’s Masonry and Concrete Construction Training Base. Zhang Jinyu, Vice Dean of the School of Digital Construction, informed the guests that SUCC acts as China’s national training base for the masonry skill event of the WorldSkills Competition as well as the lead training base in Shanghai. It also serves as Shanghai’s lead training base for the concrete construction skill event, undertaking technical support for the masonry and concrete construction events at the 48th WorldSkills Competition. The guests offered high praise for the development results of SUCC’s WorldSkills training base and its accomplishments in cultivating skilled talents.
