From March 25 to 26, the Theme Forum on Vocational Education of the 11th China Student Television Festival Serial Events sponsored by China Education Television and Fujian Provincial Department of Education and undertaken by Fujian Chuanzheng Communications College was held in Fuzhou City. Chen Ziji, Director of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education at the Ministry of Education, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Chu Min, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College, was invited to attend the theme forum and made a speech in the round-table discussions, proposing a systematic work plan for vocational education promotion and publicity where governments attach great importance, schools play a leading role, teachers and students serve as the main characters, media take the initiative, and enterprises work as the main force.


The theme forum on vocational education aims to effectively improve the overall image of vocational education and systematically strengthen the capacity building of vocational education communication. It strives to explore how to systematically do a good job in image building, case reporting, online promotion, public opinion guidance and other work of vocational education while improving the quality. The forum includes the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, topic speeches, round-table discussions, etc.


In the round-table discussions, Chu Min made a keynote speech on how to better display the image and achievements of vocational education and break the traditional perception of "dwarfing" and "narrowing" vocational education.

 

Chu Min pointed out that in order to expand the influence of vocational education, it is necessary to build a diversified communication pattern, so that governments, schools, teachers and students, media and enterprises can make their voice heard together. In this pattern, governments should attach great importance to establish an institutional environment conducive to the development of vocational education, give full play to the role of policies in standardization, guidance and coordination, promote all relevant factors of society to actively support and participate in the development of vocational education, and make vocational education recognized and valued by the society. Schools should play a leading role to improve the quality of industry-education integration, digitalization and internationalization, continuously enhance the quality of school-running, innovate the results and effectiveness of talent training, and reflect the value and significance of vocational education. Teachers and students should serve as the main characters. We should make teachers and students become the spokespersons of the development story of vocational education as each outstanding life has convincing communication power. The media should take the initiative to use rich and diverse media communication channels to spread the school-running characteristics and achievements of vocational colleges in an all-round way, so as to help improve their social awareness and influence. As employers, enterprises should work as the main force to select and evaluate talent in a diversified way, tell stories of technical and skilled talent, and speak more for vocational education.


He stressed that vocational colleges should, on the basis of continuously improving the quality of talent training and effectively enhancing the strength of running schools, further strengthen the awareness of communication, focus on proposing new concepts, exploring typical stories, planning competitions and events, strengthen communication and linkage with social media, give full play to the role of self-media publicity, continuously increase exposure, expand influence, tell stories about vocational education well, spread the strong voice of vocational education, shape the image of vocational education, and take the initiative to make progress in the process of changing the society's cognition of vocational education.
